Condition
Some customers may comment on a particular interior squeak/rattle/itch coming from the door area map pocket, arm rest, or lower A-pillar. This noise
may be more noticeable when driving over rippled concrete or asphalt with small bumps at speeds between 25 mph (40 km/h) to 75 mph (120 km/h).
This noise may also be coming from driver or passenger side door.
Cause
This condition may be caused by map pocket friction against the door pad.
This condition may also be caused by plastic retainers/receivers that do not grip the door sheet metal during the assembly process.
Correction
Technicians are to inspect and replace, if necessary, the nine door trim panel retainers/receivers and apply a 10 mm wide X 1 mm thick (0.40 in wide X
0.040 in thick) piece of adhesive-backed polyester felt tape to the outboard and inboard perimeter of the map pocket using the procedure below.
1.
Remove the front side door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement in SI.
2.
Inspect the condition of the nine plastic retainers on the trim panel and their corresponding plastic receivers in the door metal.
3.
If the green receiver is NOT on the door metal panel (1), it is likely to rattle at this location. Replace this retainer/receiver combination with P/N
25707329. In the graphic above, the retainer (2) is shown in place after removal of the door trim panel.
Important:
Working on a clean workbench will help prevent damage to the exterior trim.
4.
Place the trim panel upside down on a bench.
