Attention:
This bulletin is being issued to provide the dealer with information regarding a new OnStar(R) feature and interim service procedures.
Certain 2009 model year vehicles equipped with OnStar(R) now have an additional feature that allows for remote limiting of the vehicle's speed. This
OnStar(R) feature is called Stolen Vehicle Slow-down (SVS) and is now part of the OnStar(R) Stolen Vehicle Assistance service. This feature, when
used in conjunction with local law enforcement and strict guidelines at the OnStar(R) Call Center, will slow the vehicle by interacting with the engine
control system. When the engine control system receives a valid request from the OnStar(R) module, it will enter into a reduced engine power/vehicle
speed limiting mode, which will decelerate the vehicle.
This new feature will be available through OnStar(R), on the listed vehicle applications, beginning in the Fall of 2008.
Customer Notification
No specific service notification is required and will not be issued.
Dealer Action
In some instances, based on the circumstances of the vehicle slow-down event, OnStar(R) may not have been able to clear or cancel the slow-down
condition of the vehicle. In addition, as part of the slow-down request; certain features of the OnStar(R) system are disabled or inhibited. To restore
normal engine and OnStar® operation, an Event Clear procedure must be performed. This Event Clear procedure is supported by the Tech 2(R), through
a module set-up menu selection and is based on vehicle make, model, and SVS availability. To perform the Event Clear, follow the Tech 2(R) sample
path below:

Clear This procedure will cancel the "Reduced Engine Power" and Re-enable OnStar(R) features.
Notice:
After performing the clear event procedure, press the Blue OnStar(R) button to test the system. Allow the call to complete into the OnStar(R) Call
Center, and inform the advisor that you need to be transferred to the Stolen Vehicle team because you have just restored vehicle services after a
slowdown and need to have the vehicle account updated.
