Rear Door Latch: Service and Repair

Latch Replacement - Rear Door

Removal Procedure

1. Remove door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door  See: Rear Door Panel/Service and Repair
2. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Rear Door  (See: Rear Door Panel/Service and Repair) .
3. Disconnect the outside door handle rod from the door latch.
4. Remove the window. Refer to Window Replacement - Rear Door  (See: Rear Door Window Glass/Service and Repair) .
5. Remove the power window module (2). Refer to Module Replacement - Rear Power Window  (See: Rear Door Window Motor/Service and

Repair/Rear Side Door Window Module Replacement) .

6. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the door latch.
7. Remove the inside door handle rod and lock rod from the door latch.
8. Remove the door latch from the power window module.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the door latch assembly to the window module.
2. Install the inside door handle rod and lock rod to the door latch.
3. Connect the electrical connectors.
4. Install the power window module (2). Refer to Module Replacement - Rear Power Window  (See: Rear Door Window Motor/Service and

Repair/Rear Side Door Window Module Replacement) .

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice  in Cautions and Notices.

5. Install the fasteners.

Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

6. Install the window. Refer to Window Replacement - Rear Door  (See: Rear Door Window Glass/Service and Repair) .
7. Install the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Rear Door  (See: Rear Door Panel/Service and Repair) .
8. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door  See: Rear Door Panel/Service and Repair
