Water Deflector

Water Deflector Replacement - Rear Door

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the door trim panel (3). Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door.
2. Use the J 38778  in order to remove the push-in retainers at the upper outer edges of the water deflector.

Important:  Do not damage the sealer.

3. Carefully pull the water deflector away from the door inner panel.

Installation Procedure

1. Insert the electrical connector through the slot in the water deflector.

2. Install the water deflector (3) over the inside handle.

Notice:  Proper sealing is necessary in order to prevent water entry into the door and possible damage to inner door components.

3. Align the water deflector with the top of the inner door panel. 
4. Install the push-in retainers (1) at the upper outer edges of the water deflector.
5. Insert the extruded pockets in the water deflector into the rectangular holes in the door panel.
6. Secure the bottom center. Work forward and up.
7. Return to the bottom center. Work the seal rearward and up.
8. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Rear Door.
