Lock Cylinder Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Compartment

Removal Procedure

1. Partially open the IP compartment.
2. Pull down the stops. Allow the IP compartment to travel past the stops.

3. Remove the 5 fasteners (1) that connect the IP compartment bucket to the IP compartment door.
4. Remove the IP compartment bucket from the IP compartment door.

5. Remove the 2 fasteners (3) from the latch assembly.
6. Disengage the rod (2) from the handle to the latch.

Note the position of the rod for the proper installation.

7. Slide the handle retainer (1) off of the handle using the stiff blade.
8. Remove the handle and the latch from the IP compartment.
9. Push a paper clip through the hole in the back of the latch in order to hold down the silver tumbler on the lock cylinder.

While holding down the tumbler, insert the key.

10. Rotate the cylinder a quarter turn counterclockwise.
11. Remove the IP compartment lock cylinder.

Installation Procedure

1. While pushing down the silver tumbler on the lock cylinder, insert the key into the lock cylinder key hole.
2. Install the lock cylinder to the lock assembly.
3. Turn the key a quarter turn clockwise and remove the key.

4. Install the handle assembly to the door.

Slide on the retainer (1).

5. Install the rod (2) from the latch assembly to the handle.
6. Install the latch assembly and the fasteners (3).
