Seat Back Frame Replacement - Front

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the front seat assembly. Refer to Seat Replacement  (See: Service and Repair/Seat Replacement) .
2. Remove the head restraint. Refer to Head Restraint Replacement - Front Seat  (See: Head Rest/Service and Repair/Head Restraint Replacement -

Front Seat) .

3. Remove the seat map pocket panel (3) by pushing up and pulling out.
4. Remove the seat side air bag. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Side Impact Module Replacement - Front.
5. Remove the seatback cover and pad. Refer to Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front  (See: Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement - Front)

Important:  Do not damage the wire or the connector when removing the electrical harness.

6. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
7. Remove the 2 bolts (16) from the left side of the seatback frame (18).
8. Remove the shoulder belt retractor assembly. Refer to Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front   and Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Right

Front

9. Remove the right side frame bolt (17).

10. Remove the seatback frame (18).

Installation Procedure

1. Install the seatback frame (18).

Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice  in Cautions and Notices.

2. Apply Loctite(TM) 242 GM P/N 12345382 (Canada P/N 10953489) to the seatback frame bolts. Install the 2 bolts (16) on the left side and one on

the right side (17) of the seatback frame (18).

Tighten the seatback frame bolts to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
