Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield.

2. Remove the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector from the TP sensor.
3. Remove the two TP sensor attaching screws from the TP sensor from the throttle body.
4. Remove the TP sensor from the throttle body.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. With the throttle valve in the normal closed position, install the TP sensor into the throttle body assembly.
2. Apply thread-locking compound on the screws. LOCTITE 262(R), GM P/N 1052624, or equivalent should be used.
3. Install the two TP sensor attaching screws.

NOTE:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the TP sensor attaching screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

4. Install the TP sensor electrical connector to the TP sensor.
5. Install the fuel injector sight shield.
