Air Bag Resistor: Service and Repair
1.
Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.
2.
Remove instrument panel lower trim plate, then the air vent deflector.
3.
Remove three bolts and three screws securing glove compartment assembly to instrument panel.
4.
Slide resistor module off of bracket.
5.
Disconnect electrical connector and remove resistor module.
6.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque glove compartment bolts and screws to 17 inch lbs.
b. Following installation, activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
c. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not
respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
