Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
Dual Sensor
1.
Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.
2.
Remove instrument panel assembly.
3.
Remove air distributor assembly, located behind I/P.
4.
Remove push-type fastener retaining sensor electrical connector to theft deterrent/pass key control module bracket.
5.
Remove CPA and dual sensor electrical connector.
6.
Remove mounting bolts attaching sensor to front of dash.
7.
Remove sensor by rotating rear of sensor to disengage from mounting clip and pulling rearward.
8.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure front flange of sensor is engaged into spring clip on bracket.
b. Torque mounting bolts to 84 inch lbs.
c. Following installation, activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
d. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not
respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
