Brake Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation
Pressure Switch
The pressure switch is mounted on the hydraulic unit pump/motor assembly and serves two major functions, including pump operation control and low
pressure warning.
Pump Motor Control
The pressure switch will ground the pump motor relay coil circuit, causing the pump to run, if accumulator pressure drops below approximately 2030
psi. The switch will turn the pump motor off (by removing the relay coil circuit ground), at an accumulator pressure of approximately 2610 psi.
Warning System Control
The pressure switch also contains two separate switches to provide warning in case of low accumulator pressure. One switch is normally closed and
opens when accumulator pressure drops below 1500 psi. The other switch is part of the brake warning lamp circuit and consists of a normally open
switch which also closes when accumulator pressure reaches 1500 psi.
