Timing Cover: Service and Repair
1.
Disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING, then relieve fuel pressure as
outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELIEF.
2.
Disconnect battery ground cable and drain engine coolant.
3.
Remove serpentine drive belt.
4.
Disconnect hearer pipes, lower radiator hose and coolant bypass hose.
5.
Raise and support vehicle.
6.
Remove right front wheel and tire assembly, then the inner fender splash shield.
7.
Remove balancer bolt and balancer.
8.
Disconnect electrical connectors at camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor and oil pressure sender.
9.
Remove oil pan to front cover bolts.
10.
Remove cover attaching bolts and the cover.
11.
Reverse procedure to install, applying suitable sealant to bolt threads, and adjust crankshaft sensor.
12.
Rearm airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING.
