Driver/Vehicle Information Display: Description and Operation
Three messages related to the brake system may be displayed on the driver information center (DIC), these include:
1.
Brake Fluid Is Low. This message will be commanded by the BCM upon detection of low brake fluid by the fluid level sensor in the hydraulic unit
reservoir. While displaying this message, the BCM will also turn on a warning chime which will sound for approximately 30 seconds (unless it is
disabled by pressing the system monitor button).
2.
Low Brake Pressure. This message is displayed when a low boost pressure condition has been detected in the hydraulic unit accumulator. In order
for the BCM to command this message, the low pressure condition must exist for at least 50 seconds. When the BCM turns on the Low Brake
Pressure message, it will also sound a warning chime for approximately 30 seconds (unless it is disabled by pressing the system monitor button).
3.
Park Brake Is On. This message will notify the driver that the parking brake has not been released. This message will only occur when the car is
shifted from Park or Neutral to Reverse or a Drive range.
Illumination of the Brake warning lamp may indicate reduced braking ability. Most conditions which cause the brake lamp to light will also
cause the Anti-Lock lamp to light. Illumination of the Anti-Lock lamp without the Brake warning lamp on, indicates only that anti-lock braking
is no longer available. Power assisted braking without anti-lock control is still available.
