Intake Plenum And Fuel Rail

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Remove the vacuum lines, noting positions of the hoses.
3. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) to plenum nuts.
4. Remove the two throttle body attaching bolts, throttle body and gasket. Discard gasket.
5. Remove the throttle cable bracket bolts.
6. Remove the ignition wire plastic shield bolts.
7. Remove the plenum bolts.
8. Remove the plenum and gaskets. Discard gaskets.

CAUTION:  Use care in cleaning old gasket material from machined aluminum surfaces. Sharp tools may damage sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the new plenum gaskets.
2. Install the plenum and plenum bolts and torque to 21 Nm (16 lb ft).
3. Install the ignition wire plastic shield bolts.
4. Install the throttle body bolts and torque to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
5. Install the EGR to plenum nuts.
6. Install the throttle cable bracket bolts.
7. Connect the vacuum lines.
8. Connect the negative battery terminal.

NOTES:

With the engine "OFF", inspect to see that the accelerator pedal is free by depressing pedal to the floor and releasing.

The Electronic Control Module (ECM) will need to relearn the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve pintle position following battery reconnection.
This procedure allows the ECM memory to be updated and provides for a stable idle speed.

Idle Learn Procedure
1. Install the Tech 1 "SCAN" tool.
2. Ignition "ON" engine "OFF".
3. Select the "IAC SYSTEM", then "IDLE LEARN" in the "MISC. TEST" mode.
4. Proceed with the idle learn as directed by the Tech 1 "SCAN" tool.
