Brake Pedal Assy: Testing and Inspection
Excessive Pedal Travel

    Excessive pedal travel exists when braking action does not start within the first 1.25 inches of pedal travel, while the Powermaster III unit is
pressurized. When the Powermaster III unit is not pressurized, excessive pedal travel exists when brake pedal moves more than 3 inches while applying
light pedal pressure.

1.

Apply moderate to heavy force on brake pedal, turn ignition switch to the On position for 5 seconds, then turn ignition switch to the Off position. 
Do not turn ignition switch to the Start position, or start motor.

Release brake pedal, then repeat step 1, twice.

Bleed front brakes, as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE/POWERMASTER III BLEEDING/PRESSURE BLEEDING.

4.

If excessive pedal travel exists, check brake fluid level, then for leaks in braking system.
