TURBOCHARGER ASSEMBLY, REPLACE
1.
Remove air inlet tube from throttle body.
2.
Disconnect throttle body vacuum harness connector, throttle body electrical connectors, and the throttle and T.V. cable from throttle body.
3.
Remove throttle body assembly to compressor housing retaining bolts, then the throttle body assembly.
4.
Disconnect and plug oil pressure feed, Fig. 5 and drain lines at turbocharger.
5.
Disconnect vacuum hoses from compressor housing and wastegate actuator.
6.
Raise and support vehicle.
7.
Disconnect exhaust crossover at turbocharger, then loosen at both exhaust manifolds.
8.
Lower vehicle, then remove mounting bracket to intake manifold attaching bolts.
9.
Remove support bracket to turbocharger exhaust outlet housing retaining bolts.
10. Remove turbocharger from adapter on intake manifold, Fig. 6.
Except 1984-85 Regal
1.
Remove air inlet and outlet pipes from compressor side of turbocharger.
2.
Remove heat shields from turbocharger and oil breather.
3.
Remove exhaust pipe from turbine side of turbocharger.
4.
Remove oil breather vent from valve cover, then the oil feed line.
5.
Remove turbocharger-to-turbocharger bracket attaching nuts.
6.
Remove turbine side of turbocharger from exhaust manifold.
7.
Remove turbocharger oil return line.
8.
Remove vacuum hoses from wastegate actuator.
9.
Remove intercooler outlet-to-throttle body hose, then the turbocharger.
10. Reverse procedure to install. After installation, check boost pressure by using Wastegate-Boost Pressure Test procedure.
