October 30, 1987 (Julian Date 303), all 1988 THM 440-T4 transaxles were built using the new 2nd clutch piston inner seal (614B).
SERVICE ACTION
When servicing the second clutch assembly on a 1984 through 1986 THM 440-T4 transaxle either the new seal or previous seal may be used. However,
when servicing the second clutch assembly on a 1987 or 1988 THM 440-T4 transaxle, only use the 2nd clutch piston inner seal (614B) contained in the
service package listed in the Service Parts Information section.
