Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Description and Operation
This switch--located in the cooling system--is used on 1982 minimum function systems--4 cyl./98 cid except All W/5 speed manual trans and CA
W/4 speed manual trans.

When coolant is cold, switch contacts are open, and when coolant is warm (above calibration point), contacts are closed.

The ECM uses this switch to determine MC solenoid dwell.
NOTE: Once switch contacts close, opening the contacts with the engine running will have no effect.
