1982 Regals Equipped With 3.8L (LD5) Federal Engines
A new calibrated PROM and EGR valve have been released for production and service on 1982 Regals equipped with Federal 3.8L engines. These parts
are to be used for dealer correction of any one of or combination of the conditions listed below, when it has been determined that affected systems are
within specification and are functioning normally.
^
Chuggle at 40-45 MPH (Use PROM only)
^
Tip-in Hesitation (Use EGR valve only)
^
Cold Driveability Hesitation (Use PROM and EGR)
Before a decision is made to install a PROM and/or an EGR valve, vehicle should be roadtested, if possible, for the owner described conditions and
vehicle systems checked to determine if adjustments are within specifications.
Unless all areas listed on the checklist are correct, a PROM and/or EGR valve will not be effective for the purpose intended. Use the attached checklist
for assistance when necessary.
Any time one of the three (3) or all three conditions are encountered and the attached checklist did not assist in curing the condition, use the PROM
and/or EGR, or use both for all three (3) conditions. ONE PART CAN BE INSTALLED WITHOUT THE OTHER.
Zone authorization is required prior to usage of the PROM and/or EGR valve.
