SUBJECT: REAR WHEEL ABS SPEED SENSORS (REPLACE REAR WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY)
MODELS AFFECTED:
1989-90 REGAL COUPES WITH ABS BRAKES (OPTION CODE JL9)
CONDITION:
Malfunction of rear wheel ABS Speed Sensor on some 1989-90 Regals. ABS dash light comes on, ABS Diagnostics points to the rear sensor. If the ABS
light is on, only the antilock feature is inoperative. The normal brake system is still 100% functional.
CAUSE:
The malfunction may be caused by water intrusion past the seal on the ABS Sensor.
