Radio/Stereo: Service and Repair
When installing radio, be sure to adjust antenna trimmer for peak performance.
1982---87 REGAL
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Remove cigar lighter, then the radio control knobs and escutcheons, as needed.
3.
Remove center trim plate by grasping firmly and pulling rearward. A flat blade screwdriver or putty knife can be used to pry up a corner of
the center trim plate to aid in removal.
4.
Remove four screws attaching radio bracket to instrument panel.
5.
Open glove box door and release spring retainers, then allow door to open fully.
6.
Working through glove box door, loosen holding bracket nut on right rear side of radio, then remove antenna lead.
7.
Carefully pull radio assembly rearward to remove.
8.
Disconnect radio harness connectors, then remove bracket.
9.
Reverse procedure to install.
