Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair
Brake Solenoid Valve Removal
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Brake solenoid valve electrical connector.
2. Torx head bolts.
3. Brake solenoid valve.
NOTE: Be sure the seal is still attached to the brake solenoid valve when it is removed. If not, check brake solenoid valve bore in modulator. Do
not attempt to disassemble brake solenoid valve, it is serviceable only as an assembly.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Brake solenoid valve lip seal.
a. Lubricate seal on new brake solenoid valve with clean brake fluid.
b. Verify that the brake solenoid valve lip seal is properly positioned before brake solenoid valve is installed in ABS brake modulator.
2. Position brake solenoid valve so that its electrical connector will face the same direction as the brake solenoid valve that was removed.
3. By hand, press down firmly on brake solenoid valve until its flange seats on ABS brake modulator.
4. Torx head bolts. Tighten bolts to 4.5 Nm (40 inch lbs.).
NOTE: Make sure the brake solenoid valve connectors are installed on correct brake solenoid valve.
5. Brake solenoid valve electrical connector to brake solenoid valve.
6. It is necessary to bleed brake modulator/ master cylinder assembly.
