Push Rod: Service and Repair
TOOL REQUIRED

J 36660 Torque Angle Meter
REMOVAL
1. Remove the left (front) valve rocker arm cover.
2. Remove the right (rear) valve rocker arm cover.
3. Remove the rocker arm pedestal retaining bolt(s).
CAUTION: Place the parts on a clean surface. Store the components in order so they can be reassembled in the same location and with the same
mating surfaces as when removed.
4. Remove the rocker arm bearing(s) and the rocker arm(s).
5. Remove retainer(s) if all rocker arms are removed.
6. Remove the push rod(s).
7. Clean the push rod(s), rocker arm(s), the bolt(s) and the retainer(s )in a suitable solution.
8. Clean the rocker arm bolt(s) of all thread adhesive.
INSTALLATION
1. Use compressed air in order to blow oil out of the tapped holes in the cylinder head.
2. Install the push rod(s).
3. Install the retainer(s). Ensure that the arrows on the retainer(s) point to the center of the engine.
4. Install the rocker arm(s).
5. Install the bearing(s).
6. Install the rocker arm pedestal retaining bolt(s). Tighten the bolts to 15 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Use the Torque Angle Meter in order to rotate the bolts an
additional 90 degrees.
7. Install the right (rear) valve rocker arm cover.
8. Install the left (front) valve rocker arm cover.
9. Inspect the valve train for noise.
