Accelerator Pedal: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Remove the left instrument panel sound insulator.
2. Remove the accelerator cable from accelerator pedal.
3. Remove the bolts and studs holding the accelerator pedal to the bulk head.
4. Remove the accelerator pedal.

ACCELERATOR PEDAL INSTALLATION

Numbers in text refer to image references.

1. Install the accelerator pedal (1) to the bulkhead (4).
2. Install the accelerator pedal bolt (3) and the stud (2).

3. Tighten

Pedal assembly bolts and studs to 3.0 Nm (27 lb in).

4. Connect the accelerator cable (5) to the accelerator pedal (1).
5. Install the left instrument panel sound insulator.

The throttle should operate freely without binding between a full closed and a wide open throttle.

6. Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator

pedal.
