Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair

J 34013-B Strut Compressor

-

J 34013-88 Strut Compressor Adapter 

-

J 35669 Strut Rod Nut Remover and Installer

-

J 35668 Strut Extension Rod

-

Or Equivalents

Important:  Springs are under high tension. DO NOT REMOVE strut shaft NUT without using the proper spring compressing tool.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Strut from vehicle. 
2. Mount strut in J 34013-B and J 34013-88. Compress spring using forcing screw just enough to release tension from strut mount.
3. Strut shaft nut, using J 35669.
4. Relieve all spring tension.
5. Spring and strut components.

Inspect all components for wear and damage.

INSTALL OR CONNECT            

NOTICE:  Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application.
General Motors will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. General Motors will also call out the fasteners that require thread
lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on
threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and the joint clamping force, and may
damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you
avoid damage to parts and systems.
