SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 9
SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 9
DISABLING PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Refer to SIR Service Precautions.
1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn OFF the ignition.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Remove the console accessory wiring junction block access hole cover.
5. Remove the SIR Fuse.
IMPORTANT: With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate
an SIR system malfunction.
6. When only disabling only side impact module - RF proceed to step 19, if the entire SIR system needs to be disable then go to step 7.
7. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the left side impact sensor (SIS) and pretensioner harness connectors (4).
8. Disconnect the SIS and pretensioner wiring harness connectors (4).
9. Remove the CPA from the LF/driver side impact module connector (1) which is located under the driver seat.
10. Disconnect the vehicle harness connector from the LF side impact module connector (1).
