SIR DISABLING AND ENABLING ZONE 2

DISABLING PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT:  Refer to SIR Service Precautions.

1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
2. Turn OFF the ignition.
3. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
4. Remove the console accessory wiring junction block access hole cover.
5. Remove the SIR Fuse.

IMPORTANT:  With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate
an SIR system malfunction.

6. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the side impact sensor (SIS) and pretensioner harness connectors (4). 
7. Disconnect the SIS and pretensioner wiring harness connectors (4). 

ENABLING PROCEDURE

1. Remove the key from the ignition.

2. Connect the CPA to the SIS and pretensioner harness connectors (4).
3. Install the CPA (2) to the SIS and pretensioner harness connectors (3).
