MODELS AFFECTED:
1983 E4ME AND E4MC CARBURETORS - REGALS, LESABRE, ELECTRA AND RIVIERA
As a running change during the 1983 model year, E4ME and E4MC carburetors were built with a rich authority adjusting spring under the solenoid stop
screw (rich stop). The spring is used to provide holding force for the screw instead of the colored plastic insert (patch) previously installed on the screw.
It is important to note that a rich authority adjusting spring should NOT be installed in carburetors which originally were built with the plastic patch on
the screw. Changes were made in the air horn to prevent possible interference of the adjusting spring with air bleed valve.
Some replacement E2ME service carburetors may be built with this feature.
