NOTE: Operating the vehicle in the "Diagnostic Mode" for extended time periods without the engine running or without a battery charger will cause the
battery to run down and possibly relate false diagnostic information, or cause a no start condition. To ensure proper operation, attach a battery charger on
"Trickle" charge if vehicle is to be operated in "Diagnostic Mode" without engine running for periods, longer than 1/2 hour.

After "Diagnostic Mode" is entered any "Trouble Codes" stored in computer memory will be displayed. ECM codes will be displayed first. If no ECM
trouble codes are stored, the IPC will display a "NO ECM CODES" message for approximately two seconds. All ECM codes will be prefixed with an
"E" (i.e.), E013, E014, etc.). For the ECM code assignments, refer to COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS/DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING
PROCEDURES/TROUBLE CODE CHARTS. The lowest numbered ECM code will be displayed first followed by progressively higher numbered
codes present. Codes will be displayed consecutively for two second intervals until the highest code present has been displayed. When all ECM codes
have been displayed, BCM codes will be displayed.

The lowest numbered BCM code will be displayed for approximately two seconds. BCM codes accompanied by "Current" indicates the fault still exists.
Since the ECM is not capable of making this determination this message does not appear when ECM codes are being displayed. All BCM codes will be
prefixed with a "B" (i.e. B110, B111, etc.). For the BCM code assignments, refer to COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS/BCM COMPUTER
COMMAND CONTROL/DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURES/TROUBLE CODE CHARTS. Progressively higher numbered BCM
codes, if present, will be displayed consecutively for two second intervals until the highest code present has been displayed. If no BCM Trouble Codes
are stored "NO BCM CODES" message will be displayed. At any time during the display of ECM or BCM codes, if the "LO" fan button on the ECC is
pressed, the display of codes will be bypassed. At any time during the display of trouble codes, if the "BI-LEV" button is pressed the BCM will exit
"Diagnostic Mode" and go back to normal vehicle operation.

CLEARING TROUBLE CODES:

To clear trouble codes proceed as follows:

Enter diagnostics.

Select code by system type.  After all codes have been displayed and you have decided which control system code (ECM or BCM) you want to
clear, select either BCM or ECM by pressing the "YES" after the "ECM?" or "BCM?" message is displayed. If you only want to clear BCM codes,
you must press "NO" after the "ECM?" message, since it is displayed first. This process will access the specific system in which you wish to clear
codes.

Select "CLEAR CODES." After accessing the appropriate system, either ECM or BCM, test mode messages will be displayed and you must
respond by repeatedly pressing the "NO" until the "CLEAR CODES?" message is displayed for the system you accessed. Next, press the "YES"
which will result in a "CODES CLEARED" message. Now, press "END" to exit diagnostics and then re-enter diagnostics to verify if the trouble
codes were cleared.
