Energy Reserve Module: Service and Repair
Do not open the DERM case for any reason. Touching the connector pins or soldered components may cause electrostatic discharge damage.
Repair of a faulty DERM is by replacement only.

1.
Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.
2.
Disconnect DERM electrical connector, Fig. 322.
3.
Loosen three DERM retaining nuts located to the right of steering column.
4.
Remove DERM from vehicle.
5.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Following installation, activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
b. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not
respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
