Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
Forward Sensors
1.
Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.
2.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
3.
Disconnect and remove wire harness conduit cover.
4.
Disconnect CPA and sensor electrical connector.
5.
Remove harness retaining clips and pull harness through radiator support brace.
6.
Raise and support vehicle, then remove two tamper resistant bolts with insert bit tool No. J-38597 or equivalent.
7.
Remove sensor from vehicle.
8.
Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install sensor with arrow towards front of vehicle.
b. Torque tamper resistant bolts to 98 inch lbs.
c. Following installation, activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
d. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not
respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
