Accumulator HVAC: Service and Repair

Accumulator Mounting

Tool Required:

J 38042 Dual O-Ring Joint Separator
J 39500 Air Conditioning Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System

Remove or Disconnect

1. Recover refrigerant from A/C system.
2. Negative battery cable.
3. Underhood relay center.
4. Accumulator bracket retaining screw.
5. Passenger side wheel house liner.
6. Lower fitting from accumulator
7. Upper fitting to accumulator.
8. Accumulator and bracket.

Install or Connect

1. Position accumulator into bracket then place in vehicle.
2. Upper fitting to accumulation
3. Lower fitting to accumulator.
4. Torque accumulator inlet and outlet connections to specifications.

Tighten
^

Accumulator connections to 24 N.m (18 lb. ft.).

5. Passenger side wheel house liner.
6. Accumulator bracket retaining screw.

Tighten
^

Accumulator retention screw 6 N.m (53 lb. in.)

7. Underhood relay center.
8. Negative battery cable.
9. Evacuate, charge and leak test A/C system.
