1.
Remove intake manifold as described under INTAKE MANIFOLD.
2.
Remove valve covers, rocker arms and push rods. Keep rocker arms and push rods in order so they can be installed in the same locations.
3.
Remove accessory drive belt(s), then remove upper fan shroud.
4.
On 1991 models, disconnect oil cooler lines.
5.
On all models, remove radiator. On models equipped with A/C, discharge refrigerant system and remove condenser
6.
Remove timing chain as described under TIMING CHAIN.
7.
On carbureted engine, remove fuel pump.
8.
On TBI engines, disconnect fuel hose from front fuel line. Position shop towel around fuel hose to fuel line connection to prevent fuel spillage.
9.
On all models, remove grille.
10.
Remove valve lifters. Keep valve lifters in order so they can be installed in the same locations.
11.
Install two 5/16-18 x 4 bolts in camshaft bolt holes, then carefully remove camshaft, Fig. 12.
12.
Reverse procedure to install.
