Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair

REPLACE

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove exhaust system as described under TCC Solenoid & Wiring Harness. Refer to Torque Converter Clutch. See: Actuators and

Solenoids - A/T/Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid/Service and Repair

3. Remove propeller shaft as follows:

a. Support transmission with suitable jack.
b. Remove driveline support bolts, washers and nuts.
c. Position driveline support aside to gain clearance.
d. Mark relationship of propeller shaft to pinion yoke and disconnect rear universal joint by removing propeller shaft retainers. 

NOTE:  Tape bearing cups to trunnion to prevent dropping and loss of roller bearings.

e. Slide slip yoke from transmission and remove propeller shaft from vehicle.

4. Remove rear oil seal from transmission rear case extension.
5. Reverse procedure to install.
