Shift Solenoid: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle.

2. Remove floor pan reinforcement, then the catalytic converter heat shield.

3. Remove transmission mount to transmission support attaching nut.

4. Remove transmission support to frame attaching bolts.

5. Using a transmission jack, support, then raise transmission slightly.

6. Remove transmission support, then lower transmission to gain access to servo cover.

7. Remove two oil pan bolts from below servo cover.

8. Install servo cover compressor tool No. J-29714 or equivalent on oil pan flange and depress servo cover.

9. Remove servo cover retaining ring.

10. Remove servo cover and seal ring.

11. Remove servo piston and bore-apply pin assembly.

12. Reverse procedure to install. Whenever any servo parts are replaced, apply-pin length must be checked.
