Transmission Position Switch/Sensor: Service and Repair
Computer Command Control - Throttle Body Fuel Injection
Park-Neutral-Backup Lamp Switch
1.
Remove negative battery cable, left sound indicator (if equipped), wiring at switch assembly (821), and switch assembly.
2.
Replacement using old or new switch.
a.
Place transmission in NEUTRAL.
b.
Align actuator on switch assembly (821) with hole in shift tube (823).
c.
Position connector side of switch assembly (821) to fit into cutout on steering column jacket (824).
d.
Push down on switch assembly (821) to lock the tangs on switch assembly (821) into place on the steering column jacket (824).
e.
Old Switch only- Move switch assembly (821) to "LOW" gear position. Place transmission in PARK; switch assembly (821) will ratchet as it
adjust itself.
f.
New Switch only - Place transmission in PARK; switch will ratchet as it adjust itself.
3.
Attach wiring to switch assembly, left sound insulator (if removed), and negative battery cable.
