Standby Power Supply: Service and Repair

    Do not open the DERM case for any reason. Touching the connector pins or soldered components may cause electrostatic discharge damage.
Repair of a faulty DERM is by replacement only.

1.

Deactivate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG DEACTIVATION.

2.

Remove resistor module as described under RESISTOR MODULE.

3.

Disconnect electrical connector from DERM and remove three nuts from DERM bracket.

4.

Remove DERM and bracket as an assembly.

5.

Loosen three nuts and remove DERM from bracket.

6.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Torque mounting nuts to 17 inch lbs.
b. Following installation, activate airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/AIRBAG ACTIVATION.
c. Turn ignition switch to the On position and verify the ``Inflatable Restraint'' indicator flashes 7 to 9 times then turns Off. If indicator does not

respond, refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING PROCEDURE/TESTING PROCEDURES/RETRIEVING TROUBLE CODES.
