CRANKSHAFT AND BEARINGS
The following illustration identifies block and crankshaft size in the 1.8L (VIN Code 0) engine used in 1982-85 Skyhawk models. Block size of standard
or oversize is identified by "0" or "1" marked on the pan rail, while crankshaft size of standard or .010" undersize is identified by color. Use the
appropriate chart for the crankshaft that is installed in the engine and select the proper color bearing for either standard or oversize block. Use the
"plasti-gauge" method to determine that the bearing selected will provide the proper clearance.
A copy of the illustration should be inserted in Section 6A2 of the 1985 Buick Chassis Service Manual, Volume 1 for future reference.
