Some 4-121 engines have been manufactured with 0.26 mm oversize lifter bores. An oversize lifter bore can be identified by a vertical stripe
of white paint on both sides of the lifter bore inside the lifter cavity. In addition, these engines can also be identified buy a .26 OS stamp on the
top right front cylinder block machining pad.

Remove rocker arm cover attaching bolts and rocker arm cover, Fig. 8.

Loosen rocker arm stud nut and rotate rocker arm so that pushrod can be removed. Remove pushrod.
3.
Using tool J-29834, remove valve lifter from lifter bore.
4.
Coat base of new lifter, Fig. 9, with Molykote, or equivalent, and install lifter into lifter bore.
5.
Reverse procedure to install and adjust valves as outlined under ``Valves, Adjust'' procedure.
