The service manual incorrectly states that a new oil gasket should be installed when the oil pan is removed.
The oil pan gasket used on 1988-94 2.3L engines is reusable. The gasket only needs to be replaced when the gasket is damaged.
If an oil pan is replaced, only replace the gasket if it is damaged.
