Temperature Warning Lamp/Indicator: Description and Operation
Temperature Or Check Gauges Light
NOTE: Because different models and engine applications vary in wire colors, circuit numbers, and pin numbers, the above image is a typical example.
Refer to COMPUTERS AND CONTROL SYSTEMS/SCHEMATIC AND ROUTING DIAGRAMS for specific schematic applications.
PURPOSE
Provides a signal, by an illuminated warning on the instrument panel, to the operator of the vehicle that an engine overheat condition exist.
OPERATION
The temperature light receives battery voltage from the ignition switch through the gauge fuse. The ECM controls the temperature light by
providing a ground path to energize the bulb. The temperature light will illuminate if the key is in the "ON" position, engine not running as a bulb
check, to make sure the bulb is not burned out. The temperature light will also light if the coolant temperature exceeds 253°F (123°C).
LOCATION
