Vacuum Pump: Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
CONT. VAC. W/Normal-Excess Brake Effort Warning Light on or Off

Check all vacuum hoses for leaks and repair as necessary. If no leaks are found, proceed to step 2.

With ignition off, disconnect inlet hose from vacuum ``T'' connection, attach hand operated vacuum pump and turn ignition On, Fig. 8. If pump
runs continuously drawing vacuum of 10 inches Hg or more, replace controller. If pump runs then stops when vacuum reaches 10 to 15 inches Hg
system is normal; bleed off vacuum to below 10 inches Hg. Pump should start automatically and run until vacuum exceeds 10 to 15 inches Hg then
automatically shut off.
