Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
CUTLASS CALAIS, GRAND AM, SOMERSET REGAL & SKYLARK
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Carefully discharge refrigerant from A/C system.
3.
Remove console extensions, if equipped.
4.
Raise and support vehicle.
5.
Drain cooling system.
6.
Disconnect heater hose from heater core.
7.
Disconnect drain tube.
8.
Disconnect and cap refrigerant lines from compressor assembly.
9.
Lower vehicle.
10. Remove sound insulators.
11. Remove lower heating ducts and hose assemblies.
12. Remove heater core cover(s) attaching screws, then the heater core cover(s).
13. Remove heater core attaching screws, then the heater core assembly.
14. Remove evaporator cover attaching screws, then the evaporator cover.
15. Remove evaporator core attaching screws, then the evaporator core assembly.
16. Reverse procedure to install (raising and lowering vehicle as necessary.
