Underhood, gently center cable in cable adjuster and push lock tab button to secure cable in adjuster. See Figure 1.
On models with a shift column, inspect shift indicator needle for correctly reading neutral. If necessary, adjust indicator at guide clip on edge of shift
bowl to centrally position pointer on N (Neutral) per Buick 1986 Chassis Service Manual, Vol. I, page 3B4-1.

SHIFT LEVER IN "NEUTRAL" AND SLIGHTLY AGAINST NEUTRAL
GATE STOP THAT CAN BE FELT PRIOR TO ENGAGING REVERSE.
