In order to use the new design seals on longitudinal engines, slight modification is required. Figure 2 indicates one area of the front seal and two areas on
the rear seal which must be relieved to accommodate internal ribs in the longitudinal block. Material should be trimmed away only enough to allow the
seal to lie flat on the cylinder block. As much of the flange as possible should be retained.

The new design seals in P/N 3635212 should be used instead of the end seals supplied with the intake manifold resealing kits or intake manifold gasket
kits. Eventually properly modified seals will be included in the gasket kits.
