SUBJECT:
SQUEAK/SQUAWK NOISE FROM REAR OF VEHICLE
MODELS AFFECTED:
1982-1988 CIMARRONS
Customers may comment about a squawk or squeak coming from the rear of the vehicle, particularly during cold weather (temperature 40~ F or colder).
This condition may be caused by distortion of the rear spring upper insulator, resulting in a squeak or squawk noise.
This condition may be corrected by installing new rear spring upper insulators, P/N 22555689, following the Service Information Manual procedure.
IMPORTANT:
P/N 22555689 will temporarily be supplied with P/N 10017875 molded into the side. The new part is identified by a white stripe on
the edge of the insulator.
Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
