CTS RWD V8-6.2L SC (2009)
Note: Before installing the new oil filter, ensure that the old oil filter seal has been removed. If not, removed the old seal.
1. Lubricate the oil filter seal with clean engine oil.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Caution).
2. Install the oil filter (2) to the engine block (1) and tighten the engine oil filter to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
3. Install the oil pan drain plug (3) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
4. Install the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (All Wheel Drive) (See: Body

5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Fill the engine with the appropriate amount and type of engine oil. Refer to Approximate Fluid Capacities (See: Maintenance/Service Intervals)
and Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations (See: Maintenance/Service Intervals).
7. Start the engine, check for leaks and correct.
8. Shut the engine off and check the oil level.
9. Install the oil fill cap.
10. Close the hood.
11. Reset the engine oil life monitor. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting (See: Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators/Oil Change
Reminder Lamp/Service and Repair).
