Introduction
The Cadillac CTS-V is a sport sedan capable of extremely high levels of performance. A key element of that dynamic capability are the Michelin Pilot
Sport PS2 summer tires that come installed as original equipment. These tires have been optimized for size, compound and construction, specifically for
the CTS-V application. They provide outstanding traction (wet or dry) and excellent handling. The tires have been tested on roads and racetracks
throughout the CTS-V's development, being validated to a top speed of 320 km/h (198 mph).
Unique Characteristics of Original Equipment Tires Under Low Speed (Parking Lot) Maneuvers
The CTS-V is a very maneuverable vehicle, with the ability to steer the front wheels to sufficient angles to achieve a turning radius that is very small
compared to other comparably sized vehicles.
With these tire properties and the steering wheel turned all the way to one side, it is possible to induce the tires to make a popping or clunking noise
while backing up in cold weather. This noise is a result of the tires stretching then slipping on the road surface, and is not the result of any suspension or
steering components making noise. This noise has no quality or durability implication, and is common with other higher performance vehicles on similar
tires in cold weather.
Note
A slight lateral movement or "waddle" may be felt accompanying the popping noise from the front tires. The possibility of this sensation increases at
temperatures below 10°C (50°F).
This noise can be reduced or eliminated with the following:

Install winter tires if the vehicle will be used in cold weather. The following comments are included in the CTS-V Owner manual on page 5-64: "If
you expect to drive on snow or ice covered roads often, you may want to get winter tires for your vehicle. Winter tires, in general, are designed for
increased traction on snow and ice covered roads. With winter tires, there may be decreased dry road traction, increased road noise, and shorter
tread life. After switching to winter tires, be alert for changes in vehicle handling and braking."

Reduce steer angle slightly while moving in reverse.

Allow the tires to warm-up. Tires will warm-up with use and warmer tires are less likely to exhibit this condition.
Important
No warrantable changes to the vehicle should be attempted to address this concern.
