Park Brake Cable Mounting Bracket Replacement (With Electronic Parking Brake)

Special Tools 

J-37043 - Parking Brake Cable Release Tool

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning   (See: Service Precautions/Technician Safety Information/Brake Dust Warning).

1. Block the rear drive wheels.
2. Release the electronic park brake cable tension, if equipped. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling (Electric Park Brake)   (See:

Procedures/Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling (Electric Park Brake)).

3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle   (See: Maintenance/Vehicle Lifting/Service and Repair).
4. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation   (See: Maintenance/Wheels and Tires/Service and

Repair).

5. Lower, but do not disconnect, the exhaust system enough to gain access to the parking brake cable. Refer to Exhaust System Insulator, Hanger,

Bracket Replacement   (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Exhaust System/Exhaust Pipe/Muffler Hanger/Service and Repair/Exhaust System
Insulator, Hanger, Bracket Replacement).

6. Pull down on the left parking brake rear cable (1) or the right parking brake rear cable (2) and disconnect the cable from the connector.

7. Using the J-37043 - Parking Brake Cable Release Tool , compress the rear brake cable retainer.
8. Remove the rear park brake cable from the cable bracket (1).
9. Disconnect the park brake cable (2) from the park brake actuator lever (3).
