Front Door Hinge: Service and Repair

Front Side Door Upper Hinge and Lower Hinge Replacement (Sedan/Wagon)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the check link bolt from the body.
2. Remove the front wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement   (See: Fender/Front Fender/Front Fender Liner/Service and

Repair).

Note:  Replace only one hinge at a time then repeat procedure for the second hinge, if needed.

3. Remove the push-in fasteners securing the fender sound insulator to the front fender.
4. Remove the fender sound insulator.

5. Mark the position of the hinge on the body.
6. Support the door.
7. Remove the hinge bolts (1) from the body.
8. Remove the hinge bolts from the door.

Installation Procedure

1. Align the hinge to the marks made on the body during removal.

Caution:  Refer to Fastener Caution   (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Caution).

2. Install the hinge to body bolts (1) and tighten to 33 Nm (24 lb ft).
