DeVille V8-300 4.9L (1993)
The following guidelines should be used when servicing the Heated Oxygen Sensor:
^
Do not apply contact cleaner or other materials to the sensor or vehicle harness connectors. These materials may get into the sensor causing poor
performance. Also the sensor pigtail and harness wires must not be damaged in such a way that the wires inside are exposed. This could provide a
path for foreign materials to enter the sensor and cause performance problems.
^
Neither the sensor or vehicle lead wires should be bent sharply or kinked. Sharp bends, kinks, etc., could block the reference air path through the
lead wire.
^
Do not remove or defeat the Oxygen Sensor ground wire (where applicable). Vehicles that utilize the ground wired sensor may rely on this ground
as the only ground contact to the sensor. Removal of the ground wire will also cause poor engine performance.
^
To prevent damage due to water intrusion, be sure that the peripheral seal remains intact on the vehicle harness connector.
The Engine Harness may be repaired using Packard's Crimp and Splice Seals Terminal Repair Kit J 38125-A. Under no circumstances should repairs be
soldered since this could result in the air reference being obstructed.
Exterior Lights
1.
If the Turn Lights do not work, check I/P Fuse Block Fuse 19.
2.
If the Stop Lights and Hazard Lights do not work, check I/P Fuse Block Fuse 13.
3.
If one of the Turn Indicators goes on when the Park Lights are turned on, check the Front Park/Turn Light on that side.
4.
For any of the following symptoms, replace the Turn/Hazard Switch.
^ Some Turn Lights work and all Hazard Lights work.
^ Some Hazard Lights work and all Turn Lights work.
^ Hazard Lights do not turn off.
5.
If the Turn Indicator and the Front Park/Turn Light on one side are inoperative, check the connection and wiring at connector C206. Replace the
Turn/Hazard Switch if necessary.
6.
If the Turn Lights stay on (do not flash) in both Left Turn and Right Turn, replace the Turn Flasher.
7.
If the Hazard Lights stay on (do not flash) in HAZARD, replace the Hazard Flasher.
8.
If a Turn Indicator does not light, but the turn signals work, check the bulb, connections, and wiring to the Indicator.
9.
If the Park, Side Marker, and Tail Lights do not work, check I/P Fuse Block Fuse 14, ORN (240) and BRN (9) wires, and Lamp Switch for an
open. Also check all applicable terminals at in-line connectors (see schematic) for proper terminal contact. Refer to TECH TIPS for
inspection/repair procedures.
10.
If only one light does not operate, check bulb, socket, and related wiring (see schematic).
11.
If Stop Lights do not turn off, adjust or replace the Cruise/Shift Interlock/Brake Switch as necessary.
12.
If the High Level Stop Light does not work, check bulb, LT BLU (20), and BLK (154) wires for an open. Adjust/replace Cruise/Shift
Interlock/Brake Switch as necessary.
13.
If rear lamps work (except High Level Stoplamp and LH Rear Side Marker Lamp), check to make sure connector C400 is properly mated and that
G402 is clean and tight.
